Drawing for Life with Nicola Hooper - Exquisite Corpse Artist Book

Join artist Nicola Hooper for this special Drawing for Life workshop series which will direct the creation and collection of drawings to create an Exquisite Corpse Artist Book. The sessions will explore the surreal combination of humans, animals and insects, which will be collated into a book of ‘exquisite corpses’ (a method of assembling disparate imagery).

We will experiment with graphite, charcoal and watercolours, with a focus on the reticulate texture of the watercolours as drawing materials.

Week 1 – We will look at various shapes, styles and formats of artist books, and formulate and plan the style and content of the artist book. We’ll observe and draw animals/insects from QLD Museum as well as a live model.

Week 2 – Observe and draw animals/insects from QLD Museum as well as a live model.

Week 3 – Observe and draw animals/insects from QLD Museum as well as a live model.

Week 4 – Assemble and bind an artist book/journal. (If you are only interested in this workshop, you can create an artist book/journal to fill at your leisure.)
