October ArtLab | Children’s Clay Experience with Larissa Warren
Here and Now: Gold Coast Triennial Public Program | Children’s Workshop with Larissa Warren
Sat 12 OctOctober ArtLab | Children’s Clay Experience with Larissa Warren
What is clay? How did it get here? Where do we find it?
Ceramic artist Larissa Warren, one of the six commissioned artists in Here and Now: Gold Coast Triennial, leads this very special hands-on ArtLab!
Recommended ages: 6-16 years.
Part 1: Demonstration
Larissa will share how she processes the Gold Coast clays she uses in her art-making process and identify how local clays differ in colour, texture, organic composition and plasticity, from natural through to finished state.
Part 2: Making
We will then make pinch pots, coils and other mini sculptures using commercially available clays.
We will contribute our created objects to a real-time raw clay installation on the Studio Terrace. Our collective raw clay installation will be left to naturally break down in the environment and return to the earth.
NB. We strongly encourage attendees to wear clothes they can get dirty in and/or bring a change of clothes!
Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised at any time, thank you for your understanding. Adults don’t need to purchase a ticket as you are attending in a supervisory capacity.
