Unmissable opportunities for visual artists to feature in upcoming exhibitions

We're thrilled to announce two exceptional opportunities for artists this year.

Whether you're an Australian-based artist photographer or a local artist with a demonstrated practice, we’re excited to offer these nationally recognised opportunities right here at the Gold Coast's home for artists.

HOTA is thrilled to offer these exciting opportunities for artists. At HOTA we love working with artists and showcasing their work. Both of the exhibitions will be enhanced by local artists, and both will offer exposure to artists on the national stage.

#Gold Coast Triennial

The first opportunity for artists follows on from the success of HOTA Gallery’s opening exhibition Solid Gold in 2021, which showcased the creativity and complexity of the Gold Coast’s homegrown artists. The Gold Coast Triennial is a contemporary art exhibition held every three years and showcased at HOTA Gallery.

As part of this year's Gold Coast Triennial, we invite artists with a connection to the Gold Coast to apply to be considered for the salon display. Artworks of any subject mediums and matters will be accepted, including painting, photography, textile, sculpture, video, installation and performance.

Entries for the Gold Coast Triennial open Mon 15 Apr and close Mon 10 Jun, 5pm with the exhibition coming to life at HOTA Gallery from 28 Sept 2024 - 16 Feb 2025.

#The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2024

The second opportunity is the coveted and richest prize for photography in Queensland, The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2024, one of Australia’s most significant awards for contemporary photographic practice.

The $25,000 acquisitive award is open to all Australian artists, both established and emerging, working in the broad medium of contemporary photography. Visitors to the showcase exhibition will also get to vote for their favourite artwork, resulting in the winner receiving the $5,000 People’s Choice Award.

Entries for The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2024 open 1 July and the finalists’ work will be exhibited at HOTA Gallery, Gold Coast from 14 Dec 2024 - 30 Mar 2025.
