Light pours in and empties, again and again. We must trust simply that we are dark night, and we are returning light. That we are the ancient wild dog mountain range and the sky that greets it. First fire till daybreak.

This work is for the place I grew up in, Tallebudgera Valley.

About the Artist

Alle Davidson grew up in Tallebudgera Valley in the Gold Coast Hinterland and has spent much of her life there. Born into a family that has fostered creativity for generations, she grew up with a strong understanding of the importance of creativity and utilised art and music to help cope with childhood illness and pain. Alle went on to study Fine Art at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, and found a dedication to thoughtful intent; finding what felt true to her and working gently by utilising reclaimed or reused materials.

Alle continues to paint for pain, shifting light and hope - making marks to remember who she is. Her practice for the last four years has been an ongoing dedication to the Valley that has grown and shaped her. In deep gratitude to the traditional custodians, her works give thanks to those hills and offer an unfolding atmospheric study on her relationship to place, meaning and memory.
