Join us in the Inside Pompeii: Origins of a European Way of Life exhibition for a roaming floor talk with Roman historian Dr Kit Morrell. Dr Morrell will tour us through the Gallery speaking to some of the key sites of interest captured in Pompeii by photographer Luigi Spina, framing the works in an historical context.

#About Dr Morrell

Dr Kit Morrell is an expert in ancient history, specialising in the Roman Republic. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney and since 2020 has been the Susan Blake Lecturer in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Queensland. Her research and teaching focus is on Rome of the republican and early imperial periods. In January 2026, she led UQ’s Ancient World Study Tour to Rome and the Bay of Naples. Kit’s publications include Pompey, Cato, and the Governance of the Roman Empire (2017) and a co-edited volume on The Rule of Law in Ancient Rome (2025), both published by Oxford University Press.
