Aka Sorbie – Saltwater Heart Family Day

Aka Sorbie invites you to immerse in her art and Torres Strait culture through storytelling, artmaking and food tasting.

Known to family as Aka (grandmother), Lisa Sorbie Martin invites you to share in her art and Torres Strait culture in an immersive new Children’s Gallery exhibition. Memories and moments from Aka Sorbie’s childhood have been brought to life and infused with the vibrant colours and patterns of her art practice. This is a place to bring freshwater and saltwater people together to share stories, learn about First Nations culture and celebrate the natural environment.
