Artist Statement

My work explores the paradox between the traditional beauty of florals and the abstract power of shape, line, colour, and tone. I am intrigued by the contrast and fleeting moments of magic and change. I strive to challenge the notion of beauty and perfection by capturing the wildly untamed moments in between.

About the Artist

Llewellyn Skye, a distinguished alumna of the esteemed National Art School, is recognised for her unique and innovative approach to art. Her work reflects a deliberate fusion of divergent spheres, where structure converges with chaos, softness contends with power, and tradition confronts rebellion.

Through her vibrant and emotionally charged works, Llewellyn challenges established artistic norms and the venerable tradition of floral still-life painting, offering a compelling, enigmatic, and thought-provoking perspective.

Llewellyn's creative achievements, including the prestigious UA Artist Residency in New York, the esteemed King's School Art Prize, and a successful solo exhibition at Sydney Contemporary, are not just accolades. They are a testament to her artistic contributions' profound impact and lasting significance. Her work, featured in Home Beautiful's illustrious '20 Best and Brightest' list and high commendation in the esteemed John Olsen Drawing Prize, inspires all art enthusiasts.
