Drawing for Life – Butoh and the Fool’s Alchemy

This edition of Drawing for Life takes place within HOTA Collects: Alchemy, where two Butoh performers become our models, embodying themes of transformation.

Butoh is a theatrical Japanese dance form typified by its slow, deeply embodied movements and organic expression.

We will be led by multidisciplinary artist and Butoh performer Cedar Roppola through a series of still poses, culminating in a performance of Fool’s Gold, from which we will draw.

Please note that all materials are provided. Food and beverages are not permitted in the Gallery, with the exception of bottled water; we invite you to enjoy refreshments before or after the session at The Exhibitionist Bar on Level 5, HOTA Gallery, open until 10pm.

Doors open 5:30pm
Workshop 6pm – 8pm
