AllWays: After the Rain Online Workshop

Join Artist Educators from the National Gallery of Australia in this interactive online workshop, supporting students to connect with works of art from After the Rain and engage with themes of Country, Blak excellence, history, culture, and climate.  

After the Rain, the 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial, brings together powerful contemporary works by a wide selection of First Nations artists. Curated by one of Australia’s foremost contemporary artists, Tony Albert, After the Rain explores ideas of renewal, resilience and cultural continuity. 

On display at HOTA, students can experience the exhibition in person and have the opportunity to extend their learning by participating in an online workshop either before or after their visit. This program may include works by artists Thea Perkins, Aretha Brown, Vincent Namatjira, Dylan Mooney, Naminapu Maymuru-White and Jimmy John Thaiday. 

National Gallery programs are developed using The Creative Learning Approach,  connecting students with works of art through creative learning strategies.  
 
These experiences guide students to engage in active meaning-making through multimodal inquiry, involving materials, play, embodied learning, reflection and the voices of the artists. 
Students are encouraged s to make personal connections, drawing from their own knowledges, to deepen their appreciation and understanding of First Nations arts and cultures. 

In this online workshop, students are invited to consider how they can deepen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations experiences through connection with diverse artists in the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. This is an Art Through Culture program.
