Artist Statement

Meg Jeffery is a painter of the urban landscape, with a particular fascination for old homes and the deterioration of the built environment. Her current focus is on the homes and buildings of the Gold Coast that have been demolished to accommodate for the city's rapid growth. She is currently painting in a lo-res style, in which she uses small squares of impasto paint applied using a grid.

About the Artist

Meg Jeffery is a visual artist living on the southern Gold Coast, on the border of the Bundjalung and Yugambeh regions. She has a Diploma of Visual Art 2022 and has undertaken multiple residencies across the Gold Coast, including the Level Up incubator residency 2023, Mint Art House residency 2024 and the NextGen GC emerging artist program 2024.

She has exhibited at the Brisbane Portrait Prize finalist exhibition 2019, the Noel Chettle Prize finalist exhibition 2022, and most recently at Mint Art House in conjunction with her studio partner 2024.
