Artist Statement

After connecting with the Baguma family in Uganda, and sharing meals and stories, I offered to photograph portraits of the family in the intimacy of their lounge room.

Faith and Latecia, with quiet courage, volunteered to be the first portrait. The moment they gently held each other’s hands reflects their deep connection and speaks to how we anchor ourselves in times of uncertainty.

Through this portrait, I aim to capture the essence of their connection - a testament to the resilience and strength found in family and love.
