Hues of Happy Shopping Market

Hues of Happy Shopping Market

Step inside the most imaginative supermarket you've ever seen!

The Hues of Happy Kids Supermarket is landing at HOTA this September — and your little ones are running the show.
Forget boring aisles and grocery lists. This vibrant, colour-drenched installation invites children aged 0–11 to explore, create, and play their way through a world built just for them. Browse shelves stocked with products designed by big kids, for little kids — think Brave Bites, Dream Dust, Kindness Sprinkles and so much more.

Dotted throughout the aisles are push-button activations where children can hear voice messages recorded by other kids — little voices sharing what courage feels like, what kindness looks like, and what makes them uniquely them.
With experiences tailored to every stage of childhood — from toddler tactile play to big-kid storytelling and product design — something magical is waiting around every corner.

A sensory-friendly Breakroom means every child is welcome.

This is the supermarket where they are always in charge.

Kimberly Engwicht

Kimberly Engwicht (K-Rae Designs) is a First Nations visual creator of Bundjalung and South Sea Islander descent, based in Queensland (on Yuggera Country). She has built a thriving digital illustration practice, collaborating with national brands such as Vogue, MINI Cooper, Cadbury, and ABC Kids. Engwicht’s bold use of colour, pop culture motifs, and cultural iconography resonates with children and public audiences, making her an ideal collaborator for interactive, representation-rich projects. Her vibrant digital illustrations are inspired by pop culture, cartoons, and magic-realist landscapes. With a love for bold black outlines, dynamic colour palettes, and cultural iconography, Kimberly’s work aims to inspire and unite audiences of all ages.

Anika Kirk

Anika Kirk is a Gold Coast based artist whose work is infused with playful surrealism, vibrant colour, and emotional nuance. Dion Parker

Dion Parker is a Gold Coast sculptor and visual artist known for his bold, playful characters and sharp sense of humour. His work blends street art influences with refined craftsmanship, exploring identity and everyday quirks. Dion’s distinctive style has made him a standout figure in exhibitions, public art trails and local creative collaborations.

Courtenay McCue

Courtenay McCue is a Gold Coast visual artist, whose nostalgic pop paintings, murals, and ceramics remix 70s–80s references, vintage comics and Gold Coast icons into bold, candy-bright scenes. Her large-scale murals and playful characters bring a high-energy, retro flavour to public spaces. Symbols through-out her work carry personal meaning while others remain intentionally ambiguous, making the creative journey as significant as the final work.

Kate McMillan

Kate McMillan is a mixed-media fibre artist whose practice emerged from self-led art therapy after her medical retirement from the Police Force. Working with repurposed materials, collected fibres and rich textures, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces that honour healing, intuition and the belief that no two artworks - like no two days - are ever the same.

Richard Scott

Richard Scott is a Gold Coast illustrator, printmaker, muralist and sculptor obsessed with old-school signage and memorabilia. Drawing on 1950s matchbox graphics, snack-bar facades and neon motel fronts, he hand-renders “fake ads” and bold typographic works that sit somewhere between local history, cheeky storytelling and clean, graphic design.

Josh McIntosh

Josh McIntosh is a multi-award-winning production designer for theatre, opera, musical theatre, dance and festivals. He regularly designs for companies including Shake & Stir, Queensland Ballet and Opera Queensland, and has created major festival sites for Brisbane Festival and QPAC’s Out of the Box, earning multiple Matilda Awards for set design.

Lann Levinge

Lann Levinge is a Kombumerri First Nations creative, a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer and designer based on the Gold Coast.
