THAW
Legs On The Wall
Presented by HOTA
A spectacle of engineering, aerial artistry and climate activism, THAW is more than a performance - it’s a call to action. From leading Australian physical theatre company Legs On The Wall, THAW reaches across languages and circumstances to reflect humanity’s shared contemporary truth: There’s no time to waste.
The stage for this show is a 3-tonne block of melting ice, suspended from a crane, many metres above the ground. A solitary figure confined to the ice struggles for balance as their perch gradually starts to shrink.
Created by Joshua Thomson, with an original score by Alaska’s Matthew Burtner, THAW is a potent metaphor for our time and an inspirational act of endurance, supported by unprecedented achievements in design and engineering.
Gold Coast audiences can experience this incredible work at two different locations during BLEACH Festival. A sunrise spectacle on the sands of Surfers Paradise Beach on October 1, and a very special performance with the ice suspended over Evandale Lake at HOTA on October 3.
Thu 1 Oct, 5:00am - Surfers Paradise Beach
