CREATIVE PRODUCER - PETA SPURLING-BROWN

Peta’s life has been creative for as long as she can remember. Starting dance classes at two years old she spent her childhood through to her early twenties as a competitive Ballroom Dancer - winning a national championship, featuring on the first season of Strictly Dancing (2005), and joining Michael Jackson on stage in the HIStory tour.

Peta’s passion for accessible yet sophisticated cross-genre entertainment has resulted in a successful producing career working with some of the most exciting performers on the festival circuit through her producing companies Hey Boss (2015-2023) & Hey Dowling (2023-present). She’s the co-creator of Smashed - The Brunch Party with Victoria Falconer (Fringe Wives Club, Hedwig & The Angry Inch) which was a hit at Adelaide Fringe and Sydney Festival. Smashed went on to be commissioned by Sydney Festival to create the headline cabaret show (Smashed - The Nightcap) in 2024, and has since featured at Auckland Festival 2025.

Her favourite saying, borrowed from Brenè Brown: "Creativity needs midwifery." drives her dramaturgical approach by fostering a safe, joyful and inclusive environment (while asking the hard questions) where artists and creators can feel seen, validated, challenged, and free to bring their ideas to life.
