Hyper Temples

Hyper Temples is a large-scale immersive public artwork transforming unexpected locations in the HOTA Gallery creating an evolving landscape of participation, experimentation and collective imagination. Centered around the Hyper Temples PlayKit, a modular environment of oversized foam sculptural forms, audiences are invited to construct, dismantle and continually reshape temporary structures together through movement, storytelling and interaction. 

Expanding from Melissa Gilbert’s Build + Destroy ethos, the work explores how creativity, relationality and collective participation can become tools for cultural repair, adaptability and regenerative future-building. Across unexpected locations, Hyper Temples operates as a living social sculpture shaped by the communities who enter and activate it.
