BEACON’s free public program invites the community to gather, connect and create through a series of artist conversations, hands-on workshops and cultural exchange. Inspired by Morag Myerscough’s BEACON installation, the free public program features talks, visual arts, dance, poetry, singing and First Nations weaving.
Family friendly and suitable for all ages and abilities come along for some free fun!
Abstract Assembly Workshop
Explore colour, pattern and shape by creating a three-dimensional paper sculpture, inspired by Morag Myerscough’s joyful BEACON installation. Be immersed inside BEACON while folding, gluing and shaping your very own artwork assemblage. All ages welcome. Stay for a little or a long while and enjoying crafting by the lake.

In Conversation with Holly Ringland
When best-selling author Holly Ringland was approached to write a poem in response to Morag Myerscough’s BEACON installation it was a full circle moment. ‘With a Light Left On’ is a phrase that many fans will recognise from Holly’s popular Substack series, The Joy Rise, and her 2023 book on creativity and courage, The House That Joy Built. A new poem of the same title has now been arranged in an uplifting song to be performed at BLEACH Festival. Join us for an insightful conversation about collaboration, creative synchronicities and why ‘With a Light Left On’ is such a powerful beacon for hope and connection.

Shake Your Groove Thing!
Come stretch it, shake it, and dance it out at this uplifting community movement workshop.
Expect great music, easy-to-follow steps, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of good energy. For those feeling especially dancey you’re invited to join us with your new moves in a BLEACH Festival Closing event flash mob on Sunday 11th Oct at 5.30pm. Otherwise just come along once, feel the good vibes and move your body!

Weaving Circle with Aunty Erica Eurell
Join Auntie Erica Eurell from Dreamtime Artistry in a weaving circle that invites you to step into Indigenous culture, have a yarn, connect with each other and country. Drop in anytime across the session to make your own woven bangle and learn some simple traditional weaving techniques.
