Let's Organise Your Leisure

By Kathy Mackey

Celebrate summer fun around the HOTA lake with pool noodles, yoga mats and other “materials of leisure”. Join local artist Kathy Mackey and the LOYL team on a morning walk to discover and collect sculptural materials from along the shore before working as part of a team to build some floating works of art.

This workshop is a great way for grandparents, kids and adults to make art together while enjoying some gentle recreation in the outdoors.

Be prepared to get some sand between your toes and a little splashy – each group launches their completed temporary sculptures into the lake at the end of the workshop.

We invite you return on Sun 23 Jan from 5-6pm to celebrate the Float Off Finale – when all of the artworks made in the workshops will be launched into the lake as one giant installation! Come early or stay after the Finale to enjoy cold drinks and live music at HOTA’s Press Play: Sunday Sessions.

We encourage you to wear your brightest coloured active wear, togs and hats and don’t forget your water bottle and sunscreen.

Presented by HOTA, Home of the Arts.

Supported by GENERATE GC, which is a City of Gold Coast initiative delivered in partnership with Tasdance and SITUATE Art in Festivals.
