GreenHouse by The Farm

Are you young, passionate about art and want to provoke change in the world?

This is an open invitation for those aged 11-17 to join Greenhouse, an out of the ordinary performance group lead by award-winning and internationally renowned dance company, The Farm.

Over 6 weeks, this ensemble of young talent will learn physical performance techniques that bring self-expression, self-awareness and creativity to the fore. Together we will create acts of imaginative rebellion, divine cheekiness and wild intervention in and around the theatre.

This will culminate in a season of performances as HOTA’s Disrupters in Residence in December. This is your chance to uproot and change the way we see and experience live performance at HOTA and to create a beautiful mess.

The idea behind Greenhouse

Greenhouse is an incubator for ideas and creative physical play. Through physical movement, participants are encouraged to find their own voice, to listen deeply and intuitively to their bodies and their inner desires, complexities, emotions and creativity. All you need is a courageous spirit and a willingness to try new things, no dance experience necessary.

Who’s it for?

Young people between the ages of 11 and 17. All you need is a courageous spirit and a willingness to try new things. No dance experience necessary.

What will I get out of it?

  • Participants will immerse themselves in creative collaboration, choreography, performance skills and improvisation techniques
  • Develop communication and collaborative skills
  • Involvement in every part of the creative process, from conception to realisation
  • Develop deep awareness of themselves and others
  • Learn to create and explore ideas
  • Grow confidence, self-belief and trust in themselves and others

Who Are The Farm?

The Farm is an award-winning movement collective of like-minded artists, whose physical performances share the fragility and strength of the human condition. From traditional theatre and dance to outdoor installations and immersive theatrical experiences, The Farm’s critically-acclaimed works have toured nationally and internationally. Their maverick style aims to defy all expectations and genres — as well as gravity.
