You can’t be a home for art without artists. And we particularly love our homegrown Gold Coast artists and creatives. We believe art thrives when there is collaboration, mentorship and shared ideas.
We’re sharing our home with Gold Coast Film Festival and are working with The Farm, Everybody NOW, and Supercell amongst others. We provide opportunities for artists to meet, collaborate and learn from some of the amazing national and international artists who visit us and we regularly commission work.
We provide a range of opportunities, resources and support to local artists, like our Creative Development Program and in early 2020 our Rage Against the V(irus) fund was a quickfire response to supporting artists during challenging times. We’ve also set up an Artist Pass to make coming to HOTA more affordable for artists.
We offer the freedom, space and time to make something different. And there are more opportunities to come.
Our Home Companies:
Gold Coast Film Festival
The Gold Coast Film Festival’s purpose is to bring film to life in a distinctly Gold Coast way for local and visiting audiences and to help grow and support Queensland’s screen industry.
Based on the Gold Coast on the lands of the Yugambeh language groups, The Farm are an award-winning company who have been described as the gateway drug to contemporary dance. Their performances transcend expectations of what dance can be, and how and where it should be viewed.
In 2021, we’re proud to welcome new Home Companies to HOTA:
Everybody NOW! are a collective of performance makers and producers who create participatory performance experiences that are celebratory and playful. Their works are created on and from the Gold Coast and reach out to collaborators nationally and internationally.
Supercell: Festival of Contemporary Dance
Australia’s only annual contemporary dance festival, Supercell has collaborated with Gold Coast artists from the festival’s inception in 2017 and are dedicated to creating critical mass around Queensland dance.
