Solid Gold artists in conversation

Earlier this year we introduced you to our HOTA Gallery and Visual Arts Youth Advisory Group and the role they play in helping us in increasing opportunities for young people to participate and engage with us.

Members of the YAG were recently involved in helping us create a new podcast series, in partnership with TAFE Queensland Coomera Creative Campus, that will be live next year.

Sound Production and Film students, and members of our Youth Advisory Group, sat down with some of our Solid Gold exhibition artists to explore the creative process of contemporary Queensland artists, both emerging and established, through inquiry into their collective artistic practice.

The artists shared their everyday activities and approach to artistic practice, and their experience of living as an artist on the Gold Coast. They also talked about their identity as art makers and what is unique to the place they call home.

These podcasts will provide a fascinating insight into the lives and practise of some of our local artists. And the partnership also provides TAFE students with a work integrated learning experience, connecting students with industry leaders and practical experience in their chosen field.

The podcast series is now live. Hear from the following Solid Gold and Youth Advisory Group artist pairings:

CJ Anderson @cjand X Jay Jermyn @jay_jermyn
