Sing and dance along at Story Surprise

Kids Take Over this October is all about the magic and power of stories and there’s a whole lot of free and low-cost activities to keep your little creatives out of mischief, including some super fun workshops hosted by Lauren and Anthony from Story Surprise.

With a background in musical theatre you may have seen Lauren and Anthony in things like Paw Patrol Live and Scooby-Doo Live. Their passion for storytelling and education is clear in everything they do, and they’re known for their unique brand of silliness. Story Surprise, which combines craft, stories and music was originally planned to be an online series.

‘Story Surprise was a happy accident! When covid began we wanted to provide our family with some positive distraction, and we recorded readings of stories for our nephews overseas. Very quickly the project piqued the interest of other families and Story Surprise developed into a series. Now, we are very lucky to collaborate with publishers, authors, and early childhood experts to bring wonderful children’s stories to life! The episodes also include our original children’s music and craft activities. Each episode follows a new theme and gives families 15 minutes of educational entertainment!’

‘Kids can expect lots of laughs and interaction! The beauty of Story Surprise is that we act out our stories in ways that bring your imagination into play. Children can be inspired by what they see and act out the characters along with us! When it comes to the Story Surprise songs, well, they certainly get you boppin’ and singing along!

‘Queensland is where we grew up, so we are very excited to be bringing Story Surprise back to where it all began! 2020 has been a tough year for families so we are looking forward to our workshops being a source or fun and joy for the community!’ said Lauren

Not only is Story Surprise an online video series,  but Lauren and Anthony have just teamed up with the amazing Little Rockers Radio to turn Story Surprise into a podcast for kids. You can catch it on demand on Apple Podcast and Spotify. Or, tune into Little Rockers Radio at 11am and 5pm daily for the latest episode.

Along with Story Surprise, the dynamic duo also run virtual live classes via Zoom. The Jump & Jiggle classes are exercise for kids (disguised in imaginative play) and run every Sunday at 9.30am. And even better the first class is free.
