Agents of Confusion is the collaborative art practice of local artists Adrienne Kenafake and Tessa Bergan. Together, through live and recorded performance, the duo explore absurd, often nostalgic visions of Gold Coast experiences and identities.
With support from our Creative Development Program they’re developing an experimental performance continuing their interest in play and the absurd. The Agents are working with Brisbane-based dancer and choreographer Georgia Pierce as part of a residency to extend their intuitive movement/dance performance.
‘Our Space Invaders residency at HOTA will be our first time working with her and we look forward to developing a new movement-based performance with her professional guidance,’ said Adrienne.
‘The Creative Development Program has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to dedicate 10 days to our practice and the creation of a brand spanking new performance work that fulfils our ambition to integrate dance and live music into the Gold Coast’s contemporary art scene.
‘Over the course of our residency we will have rehearsal and studio space at HOTA and the chance to experiment and collaborate with local band, Free the Genie.
‘Professional development will also be a key feature of the residency as we engage the expertise of choreographer Georgia Pierce and the documentation skills of art/fashion photographer Anthony Kalajzich,’ said Adrienne.
On 17 Aug, Agents of Confusion will present their experimental performance alongside Free the Genie at a free (ticketed) concert with Veople on our Outdoor Stage.
This project has been supported by HOTA Home of Arts and City of Gold Coast through HOTA’s Creative Development Program.
