Calling all artists – Creative Development Program

We’ve just announced a new Creative Development Program for local artists.

‘The Creative Development Program is our way of supporting local artists to take risks, experiment and grow. We’re welcoming ideas both big and small,’ said Criena Gehrke HOTA CEO.

In the first year there’s $200,000 and in-kind resources available for projects that need a quick injection of cash, resources or space, or for more complex projects that need focused funding and specific support.

With a little help from our friends at City of Gold Coast, the Creative Development opportunity will be split into two streams, Little Bites and Big Bites.

Little Bites is for projects that need a little help to get the ball rolling. Generally for projects that are in initial stages of development, or for projects with a clear ambition for use of space and resources at HOTA.

Big Bites is for projects that are large, complex and delivered by a professional team with a proven track record.

Those applying for a Little Bite in year one, may come back in year two and have a go at the Big Bite opportunity. We want to support artists to grow their little ideas into big projects.

‘We’re looking for artists who want to push boundaries and bring new ideas to the table. This opportunity is artist-led, development focused and not tied to presentation outcomes or the HOTA program,’ said Criena.

To be eligible to apply you must be an individual artist or arts company where the project lead can demonstrate that they are either currently working or living on the Gold Coast or are developing a body of work here.
