5 must-see events at our Outdoor Stage this December

There’s a good chance you’ve been to something at our amazing Outdoor Stage since it opened last year. Whether you danced all night at Ministry of Sound, laughed your socks off at Tim Minchin, or dressed up for Young Hearts Run Free, there’s been a packed program of unmissable live events and performances.

And we’re sure you’ve heard all about our brand-new HOME series. We’re talking 20 events over 15 days in December – your biggest problem will be deciding what to see.

Here are our Top 5 unmissable highlights:

Hot Brown Honey

With sold-out shows across the world including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Tiger Dublin Fringe and the Sydney Opera House, this award winning, firecracker of a performance is on for one night only. Stop what you’re doing, gather your friends and turn up the heat for this fierce mix of burlesque, hip-hop, circus and dance, packed with a hot pinch of empowerment!

Deadly Hearts

From the hearts and mouths of a cross-generation of Indigenous Australians and taking inspiration from ABC Music’s Deadly Hearts album, this amazing first nations concert will feature some of Australia’s best present and emerging artists including Jessica Mauboy, Archie Roach, Aodhan, Selve, Kinship Collective and HVWKS.

Dance Beneath the Stars – FREE EVENT

This evening will be THE party to get your festive season started, with a nostalgic look back at the hey days of dance halls and vintage glamour. Hosted by Everybody NOW and featuring the amazing Hot Potato Band, we bet you won’t be able to resist the infectious beats that will pull you up to the dancefloor before you even know what’s happened.

Calling Home

Vocal sensations Lior, Yirrmal, Parvyn Singh and Solli Raphael take to the stage with William Barton, Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra and The Australian Voices. Physical Theatre Company, Five Angry Men perform The Bells as part of a spectacular evening that speaks of home, faith and traditions. Kids under 15 FREE

Concrete Culture – FREE EVENT

HOTA will be turned into a skate mecca for the day in this celebration of all things skate culture. Watch pro skaters take on custom-built obstacles, see incredible skate demos and there’s even free lessons for the kids. With an exhibition from Yeah Girls celebrating female skateboarders, food trucks and live music, it’s a free event and will be an awesome day out for the whole family.
