Music of New Orleans | Galapagos Duck

Galapagos Duck is one of Australia’s best known jazz bands. They have been performing since 1969 and are a favorite among Jazz fans throughout Australia.

Along with trailblazers like the late great Graeme Bell and then stars like Don Burrows, George Golla and James Morrison, Galapagos Duck put Australian jazz on the map. They’ve won national and international awards, played everywhere from Asia to America and Europe (including the famed Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland) and influenced generations of young musicians through their live performances, volumes of original compositions and TV appearances.

The band has always had a particular interest in the music of New Orleans as represented by the likes of Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong through to Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint , The Meters, James Booker, Professor Longhair and Harry Connick Jnr.
