Leanne Tennant

Surrounded by the depths of the rainforest and the azure glory of the reef, Leanne Tennant is an artist who pulls you across boundaries. Her songs sweep and fall, rock and flow and bring you into her world – one where you can escape that concrete, check out for a little and get lost in myriad stories of real people, real life and real experiences.

Her first album Pull Up Your Britches (2015) built her serious momentum across the country – her sophomore album Red Wine, Late Nights (2016) followed, both received Queensland Music Awards, glowing reviews for tracks Gentle Annie and Bearing the Crown – along with national and international airplay, touring, supports, festival slots and TV placements.

Now Leanne is releasing her third album after winning the prestigious Carol Lloyd Award in 2018, and sees her branch out into new directions and exploring a completely new sonic pallet.

Her new single Bring It All Back has just been released with outstanding support both Australia wide and on a Global level, which follows on from debut single Cherry Cola.

The tracks are a glimpse of what we can expect from Leanne’s new direction, and within the first 48 hours of release, both tracks gained official rotation on Double J, added to RAGE and featured as ‘Wild One’, premiered by BBC Radio, was picked up by Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 and play-listed on UK’s Amazing Radio after reaching #1 spot on Charlie Ashcroft’s show, received producers pick on BBC-Merseyside and most recently Bring It All Back was added to British Airways from February 2020.

Alisha hails from small town Gympie, raised on country and rock and has recently returned from a long European hiatus with lots to share. With a new profound affection for jazz fusion and the rhythms encountered in late night street ciphers and D’Angelo records, Alisha extends her bubble of happiness with everyone she plays to through her wandering melodies and old soul delivery.

Reviews

“Bring It All back is a display of astute, mature pop music, delivered with grace and emotion.” Clash Magazine, London

“The simple guitar picking at the start draws you straight in. The atmosphere Tennant has created through the song – with the stomping rhythm and the layers of voices – brings out such an ominous mood. 4 Stars.”  Richard Kingsmill, Triple J

“Right from the haunting acapella intro, Leanne Tennant’s commandingly haunting vocals latch on. “Gentle Annie” — the first track lifted from her forthcoming second album, Red Wine, Late Nights — teasingly edges towards complete collapse or euphoric explosion (dependent on your own perspective), as Tennant slowly succumbs to the soulful darkness of her late-night world.  Rolling Stone Hearing her, without having seen her live, you can imagine she’s standing there like Big Mama Thornton, with a guitar pointed at you and a no-nonsense attitude.” The Sydney Morning Herald
