Echoes of Gold

HOTA Gallery Launch Weekend

Although tickets have sold out to HOTA Gallery, you can still join us for the party, as we continue celebrating great Gold Coast art on the Outdoor Stage with a free concert of live and loud homegrown talent, Echoes of Gold.

Featuring performances by Eliza & The Delusionals, Donny Love, San Mei, Alt Fiction, DENNIS. and DJ sets by VICES; hosted by Kate Baggerson and Zac Fahey, with live on stage interviews with artists, musos, and industry movers and shakers.

And to amplify the local flavour of the weekend, we’ve partnered with The Design Collective Markets to curate a selection of Gold Coast and Queensland makers and retailers for a pop-up market selling a selection of boutique wares.

Accompanied by pockets of food outlets, local brews, your best friends and family perched on a picnic blanket to top or tail your first ever visit to the brand new HOTA Gallery – it’s an unmissable Gold Coast calendar event.

Please note – while Echoes of Gold is free and unticketed (that’s right – first in, best dressed on the day!), tickets to HOTA Gallery Launch Weekend are currently sold out. But you can visit HOTA Gallery from 10 May onwards – just book your visit here.

More about HOTA Gallery Launch Weekend

Eliza & The Delusionals

Eliza & The Delusionals was founded by Singer-guitarist Eliza Klatt in 2015 in Gold Coast.

After a slew of well-received early singles, the band caught the attention of triple j and led to supports with artists such as Grinspoon, Dear Seattle and Killing Heidi, appearances at landmark festivals and major radio support both locally and internationally.

As a first taste of their forthcoming EP, ‘Just Exist’ has recently been playing on high rotation in North America and crowned ‘Critical Cut’ by AltNation. Having signed with Cooking Vinyl Australia and APA, the doors are well and truly starting to open for EATD internationally.

Donny Love

Beyond the band and their musical output, Donny Love is an ongoing social experiment and a vessel for growth through music. Blend the music of the Talking Heads with the combined aura of the Power Rangers and you’re in the ballpark. Known for their energetic and ever-changing live show, Donny Love have so far supported renowned acts such as Thee Oh Sees, Allah Lahs, Homeshake, Chastity Belt and Rolling Blackouts.

The band announced their signing with Holiday Maker Records with two singles ‘Boredom Pills’and ‘The Lights’ which introduced a new, more ambitious surrealist pop production and songwriting style.

San Mei

San Mei AKA Emily Hamilton began her musical journey at the keys of her family piano, a consequence of a love ingrained and inherited from her dad’s favourite Beatles records and penchant for classic 60’s pop.

San Mei is enamoured with the transportative nature of music, her guitar heavy, delay ridden, dreamy popexplores the hyper-blaze of existence and the intricacies of the in between. Family and home have always been integral to Hamilton’s creative process. The daughter of Chinese-Malaysian and New Zealand born parents, her family immigrated to Australia at an early age.

Armed with just a MIDI-keyboard and a Macbook San Mei was born.

Alt Fiction

The music of Alt Fiction gives an insight into their past whilst firmly embracing the future with their aural athleticism, proto-Strokes guitars cresting to meet quotable lyrics about disaffection in the Internet era. They are three players locked in relative unison, recalling the heyday of groups like Phoenix. With every glimmering chorus and offbeat ad-libs, the three brothers – Will, Matt and Mitch, give a dynamic performance pushing the jams towards their peak.

Their debut single ‘All My Friends’ launched into the world via triple j unearthed and triple j with Richard Kingsmill giving the band a 4-star review.  There’s much more to come, but already more than enough to love.

DENNIS.

Award-winning singer-songwriter, DENNIS., combines her love for swaggering grooves, relatable melodies and angelic yet bitey vocals, inviting listeners into an electronic indie-pop party none of us want to miss.

Since her debut, DENNIS. has hit the ground running, taking out the coveted inaugural Gold Coast Music Prize at the 2020 Gold Coast Music Awards; ‘channeling that big budget Nordic energy’ (Tommy Faith, Triple J) with her previous singles; and spending time in Nashville on a scholarship working with world renowned producer/songwriter Trey Bruce.

VICES

Vices is an Australian DJ/Producer from the Gold Coast, Australia.

After randomly finding himself onstage at a Girl Talk show years ago, his life was changed and he became obsessed with the art of music sampling. After years of putting in the hard yards at several GC clubs, Vices has created his own type of DJ Set, a high-energy mix of genres and decades put in a blender and thrown in your face.

Vices has played sets at Splendour In The Grass, One Day Sundays and supported the likes of Portugal The Man, What So Not, Touch Sensitive and more.
