Easy Rider | The Honey Sliders

Due to popular demand we’ve added a second show on Sunday 13 September, 3pm.

Get your motor runnin’ and head out to the Highway as The Honey Sliders bring songs from the revolutionary Easy Rider soundtrack to life.

In 1969, Easy Rider revolutionised the way films were made. The soundtrack forever changed the relationship between films and the music they contained. This was the first film to feature a collection of popular songs that weren’t written (scored) specifically for the movie itself.

Featuring the music of Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix, The Byrds, The Band, Procol Harum and more, the Easy Rider soundtrack is easily the coolest collection of counter-culture rock ‘n’ roll the world has ever seen – and that’s before even mentioning the Harley Davison bikes, the leather jackets, the drugs, the vast open roads, and the enduring sense of freedom that this film still inspires – and don’t we all need to feel a sense of freedom right now? Like a true nature’s child, we were born to be wild.

The Honey Sliders

The Honey Sliders are the new 70’s inspired blues / boogie project for three time ARIA Award nominated singer song writer Danny Widdicombe. The band have been playing their favourite albums live in concert, one at a time, every year since 2013 when they kicked it all off with Hendrix’s ‘Axis: Bold as Love’. After much critical acclaim and popular demand, they launched into a series of successive, annual sold out concerts, including – The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’, Neil Young’s ‘On the Beach’, The Band’s ‘The Last Waltz’, The Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’ and ‘Let it Bleed’, and Cream’s ‘Disraeli Gears’. Each year The Honey Sliders sell out The Triffid in Brisbane and The Sound Lounge on the Gold Coast with their respectful and mind-blowingly accurate recreations of these masterpieces of blues, soul, country, and rock n roll.

Joining Danny is, Dan Mansfield, Chris Bosley and Ben Carstens; and the band have been joined onstage by the cream of Australia’s rock establishment – Bernard Fanning, Tim Rogers, Troy Cassar-Daley and many more.

Each member of the honey sliders has toured the world with their music and together they have over 80 years experience on some of the biggest stages anywhere. Their love of music from the ‘golden age’ of rock n roll records from 1965 – 1975 is a huge influence on their sound.
