HOTA Membership FAQ

When will I receive my HOTA Membership card?

HOTA has moved to a digital platform. As such your HOTA Membership will be sent via email. From here you will be able to download your HOTA Digital Membership Card onto your phone’s digital wallet. If you do not have a smart phone or have opted for a physical card you can collect your HOTA Membership card from the HOTA Box Office 10 days after your application is lodged.

Why is HOTA switching to digital membership Cards?

This is part of HOTAs mission to advance sustainability and by rolling out digital membership cards we can help do our bit by reducing the amount of plastic we utilise each year in printing membership cards.

How do I add the digital membership card to my phone?

We have partnered with Cuseum to deliver these digital cards via email to you along with very detailed instructions on how to download to your mobile device.

  • For iPhone users: access the email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click the “Add to Wallet” and “Add”. The card will automatically be saved in your iPhone’s Apple Wallet and can be accessed at any time. If you do not see the email, please check your junk and other folders.
  • For Android users: download Wallet Passes from Google Play. Once you have the app, access the email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button. The card will automatically be saved in your Wallet Passes app and can be accessed at any time. If you do not see the email, please check your junk and other folders.

I prefer not to/am unable to use a digital membership card, what can I do?

By default, all members will now receive a digital membership card sent to the email address you provide. Members who do not wish to use a digital membership card or who do not have a smartphone are welcome to present their physical membership card at HOTA.

Where can I find my digital cards?

Once downloaded, your digital cards will live in your smartphone’s wallet.

I don’t have a smart phone, what can I do?

By default, all members will now receive a digital membership card sent to the email address you provide. We can still provide a physical membership card to you to redeem your Member benefits. Please contact HOTA by phone (07) 55884000 or email [email protected]

Will my digital card update when I renew my membership?

Yes! After your membership has been fully processed your digital card will automatically update with your new expiration date. You only have to download the card once and updates are automatic.

How do I receive my HOTA Membership discounts?

If you are purchasing at the Box Office you must present your HOTA Membership card in order to receive your discounts. If ordering tickets online, you will need to Log In to your account to complete the transaction and to apply the discount, and again present your HOTA Membership card when collecting your ticket.

I can’t see a HOTA Member price online anymore.

We have removed the HOTA Member price from the website. Now your discounted membership price will automatically be applied to the tickets purchases, if applicable, when you log into your account.

I already have tickets in my basket. Can I log in now?

Yes. As long as you log into your member account prior to finalising your purchase the ticket/s will automatically change to the Member price point, if applicable.

How do I receive my free HOTA Cinema ticket voucher and what are the conditions?

Your HOTA Cinema Voucher is available for collection at the HOTA Box Office once you have purchased or renewed your HOTA Membership. The voucher is valid for a standard session (excludes special screenings and films on a ‘no free list’.) and is valid for 12 months from the date of your HOTA Membership purchase. You may not redeem your voucher for cash and no extensions will be applied to the expiry date.

How do I redeem my selected wine and beer discount and what are the Terms and Conditions?

You must present your HOTA Membership card in order to redeem your beer and wine discount. The discounted price of $6.50 is only applicable to selected wine and beer beverages and does not apply to spirits. Ask your friendly HOTA Bar and Café staff to find out which wine and beer beverages the discount applies to.

How can I find out which HOTA shows and tickets have the membership discount?

The HOTA show discount does not apply to student, group, multi-buy and Friends of the Arts ticket prices. For all current HOTA shows offering the HOTA Membership discount please visit our HOTA Membership page.

Does my HOTA Membership include discounts on HOTA Cinema tickets?

Yes. Your HOTA Membership does provide you with discounts to the HOTA Cinema ticket prices.

How much money do I save with my zero-transaction fee discount and what does it mean?

A saving of between $4.00 and $6.00 will apply to each booking transaction you make when purchasing tickets to any event at HOTA, including all shows, workshops and Cinema. When purchasing online please ensure you log into your online account. Once you log in your transaction fees will be waived.

Can I extend my HOTA Membership benefits to friends?

No. Your HOTA Membership is an individual membership and discounts only apply to the person named on the card.

How do I redeem my other HOTA Membership benefits?

You will receive an email notifying you of all HOTA Membership invitations to exclusive events and screenings and special promotions on events and performances. To ensure you receive these emails, please notify HOTA of any change of email address or contact information or update by login in to your online account. https://tickets.hota.com.au/account/login

Are Couple, Family or Child HOTA memberships available?

No. Currently we are offering individual memberships only. We hope to bring you additional membership offers in the future.

Are there other HOTA memberships available?

Yes. We will be launching two new tiers of HOTA Membership in the coming months. Please stay tuned for more details on this.

How does my HOTA Membership assist in helping young creatives and local artists?

We’re a not for profit, so every dollar really matters. Through the generous contributions of our benefactors, partners, sponsors, and now HOTA Members, we’re able to present a range of inspiring programs and initiatives that support young creatives and local artists. Things like our Incubator program for emerging playwrights and our Youth Theatre Projects which has launched the careers of many young Gold Coasters.

How does this change other membership benefits?

Friends of the Arts

Friends of the Arts have always been a separate organisation from HOTA, Home of the Arts and while it’s likely we will remain a recipient of the Friends support, they will be exploring opportunities for different membership benefits from other partner organisations. It’s an exciting time for the Friends of the Arts as they expand their remit to offer wider benefits to artists across the Gold Coast. Until 30 June 2019, existing members of the Friends of the Arts will receive their HOTA benefits. Post 30 June 2019, HOTA will continue to honour benefits to Friends of the Arts Life Members only.
