World Upside Down

Children’s Gallery

Discover secrets and surprises, where nature is not what it seems in World Upside Down, the first exhibition in our new Children’s Gallery.

The young and young-at-heart can be curious and creative through interactive art and hands on making activities, designing a future where we all belong.

In Lowana-Skye Davies’ interactive artwork bathe in a pool of light and sound, and play along with bodies of water, like a rock-pool, a stream, or a house pool.

Find ways to rescue animals in Alinta Krauth’s digital animal-scape where you’re in charge and tasked with the chance to design ways to care for wildlife by changing their environment.

And here you can also create! Make your own bird box and flying creatures to take home with you (or put on display in the Gallery) and make a paper leaf boat to race with friends.

Inspired by the themes of our major exhibitions in 2021, Solid Gold and Lyrical Landscapes, World Upside Down is a chance to wonder about your place in the world and get creative about our future. Keep an eye out for unexpected surprises – sometimes our natural world is not quite what it seems.
