Coming into Fashion | A Century of Photography at Condé Nast
Fashion photography has gripped us for over 100 years. Many of the legends like Mario Testino, Deborah Turbeville, and Helmut Newton achieved their greatness at the Condé Nast studios in New York, Paris, and London. With unprecedented access to the archives of each city, Coming into Fashion is an exhibition tracking the highlights of this sparkling intersection between photography and fashion.
In addition to these images, the exhibition also includes a selection of vintage couture fashion from The Darnell Collection – Australia’s largest private collection of fashion from the late 1700s to the 20th century. The collection’s custodian, author and fashion historian Charlotte Smith, has selected the finest and most iconic pieces to pair with this dramatic retrospective.
A curation of seminal fashion films and documentaries will be screening throughout the exhibition season, and over two days of talks and forums, guests will hear international and Australian industry leaders discuss the past, present, and future of the world of fashion.
Our regular kids and youth workshop series ArtLab will be themed around fashion for the exhibition period, with a new timeslot of adults to join in the fun.
Coming into Fashion: A Century of Photography at Condé Nast is a ticketed exhibition on display at Gold Coast City Gallery 25 November 2017 until 18 February 2018.
