HOTA Gallery Education Tours
HOTA Gallery educators are available to provide talks and tours relating to the current exhibition program and in response to works from the HOTA Collection.
Each of the HOTA Gallery spaces has a maximum capacity, so sometimes large groups may need to be broken up – your tour guide, or our visitor services staff will be there to help.
GUIDED TOURS: $8 (per student, 45 minute session). Registrations and tax invoices for your tour will be generated upon filling in the registration form.
SELF-GUIDED TOURS: Free, but registrations are required.

Responding and Making Sessions
Using the current exhibition as stimulus, you’ll be able to join us to develop critical thinking and knowledge, understanding and skills for creativity in one of our Responding and Making sessions.
Students will experience our exhibitions, share ideas, and communicate their observations through making their own artworks as artists and audience. Facilitated by a collection artist, contemporary artist, or experienced art educator. All workshop materials provided.
Tickets $15 (per student, 90 min session) Suitable for students Pre-Prep-Year 12, TAFE and Tertiary.

Referencing popular culture, social media and our digital worlds join YEAHYEAHCHLOE for a workshop utilising collage and visual storytelling to explore the universal themes of belonging and connection found in her contemporary practice.
Our Visual Arts Professional Development programs will be based upon the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and delivered by collection and contemporary artists and experienced educators. You can read more about all current PDs available here.

Teacher Exhibition Preview Evenings
Join us at one of our teacher preview evenings in the Gallery to experience the headliner and temporary exhibitions and to learn more on the education program provided for each.
Our first Exhibition Preview Evening will be on Tue 8 Feb, 10.30am. Teachers will get to explore HOTA’s 2021-22 Summer Exhibition – Art Mixtape: Yours for Summer.
Exhibition Preview Evenings are free to attend, but registrations are essential.

For more than 30 years, Energies has provided a platform for local senior secondary visual art students to exhibit their work in a professional gallery setting. Energies alumni boasts acclaimed contemporary artists Michael Candy, Abbey McCulloch, Rebecca Ross and Michael Zavros, all of whom are having their work featured in the inaugural Gallery hang.
Presented in partnership with Gold Coast Visual Arts educators and in consultation with our HOTA Gallery and Visual Arts Education Reference Group art work is selected from Gold Coast students based upon individual merit and skill.
Energies, now open in Gallery 4 at HOTA Gallery, showcases exemplary student work, best practice for teaching, and supports career pathways and further study into the arts.
