Filming and Photography at HOTA
HOTA is one of the best destinations for filming and photography on the Gold Coast. It’s also an incredibly busy precinct. To ensure a harmonious mix of visitors, events, filming and photography at all times, those looking to film or take photos onsite must receive prior approval.
If you wish to conduct a photo or film shoot in the Precinct, please complete this form.
The only exceptions are:
- If you are taking wedding photography you do not need to complete the form.
- News outlets doing short weather or news crosses do not need to complete this form but should contact email@example.com for approval to film onsite.
- If you have booked the venue as a venue hire.
Timeframes, terms and guidelines
Please allow a minimum of five working days for your application to be processed. Please also make sure that you have read HOTAs filming and photography terms and conditions; commercial or non-commercial film and photo shoot guidelines, depending on the nature of your shoot.
Drone photography and filming at HOTA is only permitted by CASA licensed operators for commercial purposes only. You must hold:
1) A remote pilot licence (RePL)
2) A remote operators certificate (ReOC)
If you hold a remote pilot licence (RePL) and a remote operators certificate (ReOC) you will still need to complete the form below in the first instance and indicate the use of the drone and weight in your description. Please see here for more information on flying drones in Australia.
Please note that due to crowd numbers, shoots may not be approved during public holidays, school holidays or major events in the Parklands. It is recommended that wherever possible, you schedule your shoot outside of these times.
