Queensland’s COVID Vaccine Plan – Artists/Production Companies FAQs

In line with the Queensland Government plan, from Friday 17 December all audiences and visitors to HOTA will be required to be fully vaccinated to be in our buildings or attending our activities.

These new measures are a condition of entry to HOTA, whether you are a resident or visitor to the City. It means that everybody on site will need to be fully vaccinated, unless you are medically exempt. Visitors will still be required to check in using the QLD Government app.

As HOTA implements these regulations, we appreciate your understanding and support.

What is the Queensland Government plan?

From 17 December, visitors to HOTA will be required to be fully vaccinated to attend events and be in our buildings. This also extends to our staff, artists and contractors.

To find out more visit the Queensland Government website, here.

What does this mean for me?

If you are 16+ on the day of your visit, you will be required to have received both doses of an approved vaccination to attend events and activities at HOTA.

How will you check vaccination compliance?

You will need to present a vaccination certificate – either digital or hard copy – upon arrival to HOTA.

This includes a digital certificate in your Apple Wallet or Android Digital Wallet, a digital or printed copy of your vaccine certificate issued by Medicare. The QLD Check In app can also host your vaccine certificate and you can read how to upload it here.

Is the whole production team required to be vaccinated?

Yes. It will be your responsibility as the hirer to ensure your company complies with the Queensland Government plan.

You should confirm in advance of your event that your company meets its obligations. You should notify HOTA as soon as possible, if you foresee any compliance issues.

I am due to perform at HOTA but have not been vaccinated and will not be in time for the performance.

You should notify HOTA as soon as possible as we may need to postpone or cancel your performance / production.

Is there a COVID check in procedure at HOTA?

Yes, HOTA uses the Check In QLD app, which all visitors will be required to register in. If you do not have a smart phone our team will be able to register you on arrival.

What if there are members of the team who will not be vaccinated?

Your event will need to be postponed or cancelled. If this affects your production, you will need to speak with our programming and/or venue hire team.

Will all staff at HOTA also be vaccinated?

Yes, everybody working on site and visiting will be required to be vaccinated.

I am medically exempt from receiving a vaccination, can I work or perform at HOTA?

Yes – although you may be required to provide evidence as well as identification to verify its validity.

If ticket holders aren’t fully vaccinated, will they be provided with a refund?

Yes. Given the sensitivities of this plan, HOTA is of the position that refunds should be provided without question so long as it is in advance of the event starting. Refund requests after an event will not be authorised.
