Darkness and Light: Music Meets Art
Southern Cross Soloists present a stunning program of chamber music inspired by the life and works of Australia’s greatest living artist, William Robinson AO.
The program traces William’s love of music, with a particularly focus on the piano, with works by Bach, Chopin and Rachmaninov performed by Southern Cross Soloists (SXS) and special guest artist, Konstantin Shamray, one of Australia’s leading piano soloists.
In a program that explores the nexus between music and art, SXS will also be joined by Wakka Wakka didgeridoo soloist, Chris Williams for a new work by Gold Coast/Hollywood based film composer, Joseph Twist. Inspired by William Robinson’s Creation series, the new composition The Ancient Rainforest brings alive visions of the Gondwana rainforest of the Springbrook National Park. The concert also includes a work for SXS and digeridoo by Queensland composer, Sean O’Boyle titled ‘Earth’.
