ArtLab | Catching a Whiff - Smell School

Make art nose first and catch a whiff of HOTA at Smell School.  Where we use our sense of smell as a unique way of connecting with the world around us. Work with WORLD UPSIDE DOWN and GENERATE GC artist Lowana-Skye Davies and her smell team, Tessa Bergan, and Adrienne Kenafake. Make your own bottle of perfume from a fragrant palette, explore the smellscape* of HOTA with a smellwalk** and construct an odour wheel.

The special ALL AGES session of ArtLab will be held from 10am – 12pm and capped at 20 participants.

Generate GC acknowledges the Yugambeh people, the traditional owners of the land on which we work, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples on the Gold Coast today.

*The word smellscape is a portmanteau of landscape and smell. It has been used by sensory geographers and artists like Lowana-Skye to assist in describing often mysterious experiences of smells in our immediate environment. **To take a smellwalk is to go for a walk to smell and observe our environment from the perspective of our noses. Smellwalking is a fun way to engage with places, animals, plants, and people.
