Set up your own Gallery

Artist:

Elke Gill

About This Project:

Elke Gill, in collaboration with Drew Magnum and Lachlan MacLeod, will combine their multi-disciplinary skills to bring an interactive experience showcasing Digital Art, Animation, Soundscape and Augmented Reality.

The series of works will be downloadable and can then be printed at home. Hang the work on your wall and watch it come to life through an Augmented Reality app, bringing an art gallery experience into the comfort of your own home.

It’s a strange feeling, this feeling of chaos, while everything is so quiet. Life has become still, while everything feeling like it is falling apart. Taking in the little, quiet moments has become a way of coping; we’ve found a new appreciation for the place we call home.

These works are a reflection on the contrast of a still life while the world is in a kind of chaos.

The Project Outcome:

First things first – here’s what you need.

  •  A printer (with coloured ink)
  • Some frames (or just washi tape)
  • A smartphone or tablet (plus the Artivive app)
  • A blank wall

Here are the steps.

  1. Download: Download the artwork* (available below) that you want to add to your home gallery.
  2. Print: For best results, print your selected artwork in full colour and high quality.
  3. Frame and hang: For best results, frame your artwork to keep it intact over a longer period of time.
  4. Install App: Download the free Artivive app on either your smartphone or tablet. Artivive is available on both the Apple Store and Google Play.
  5. Sound On: To experience captured sounds such as rain, a kettle boiling, laughter, some poetry and sweet guitar riffs by Lachlan you must have your sound on. Turn your devices sound on, put your headphones in and launch the app.
  6. Bring art to life: View the art through your smartphone or tablet.
  7. Share the vibes: We’d love to see your home gallery. Tag us on @studioed and @hotagc.

*By downloading the artwork you agree to not distribute the artwork in any way that will result in commercial gain.

A Quiet Chaos: How to set up an art gallery at home

About the Artists:

In 2019, Elke & Drew, two fresh graduates and freelancers in their fields teamed together to start a business, Studio Ed. Through collaboration Studio Ed forges creativity and multi-disciplinary processes to create a type of magic. Elke and Drew combine their skills in branding and interior design to provide a unique service to start-up businesses.

Aside from the professional work in design, they like to shake it up by creating art that provokes thought while commenting on issues surrounding the environment and our idea of place changing dramatically with the ever-increasing threat of catastrophic weather events, rising sea levels, deteriorating air quality, soaring temperatures and now the threat of disease.

Later in 2019 Elke and Drew started collaborating with Lachlan, a sound artist to form a small arts collective as a way to combine their interdisciplinary skills and create innovative and thought-provoking pieces of work. They each have a unique set of skills that when combined can create an interactive and intriguing experience.

Elke Gill
Visual and Interactive Designer (Motion, Branding, Illustration, Photography)

Elke is an emerging creative practitioner with a focus on environmentally conscious design.

Her passions lie in creating interactive experiences through motion and digital art, designing and producing laser cut jewellery, and utilizing her skillset in visual design and marketing to build brands.

Elke has ambition to create memorable and conscious brands, as well as design digital and physical spaces that insight thought, inspire feelings and tell stories.

Drew Magnum
Architectural Designer

Drew’s passion lies in creative problem solving to develop and present architectural solutions that meet user, functional and aesthetic needs now and for the future. Being a creative, Drew enjoys creating works that intertwines her passions of architecture and art. Mixed media architectural and interior inspired collages are a way she expresses her ideas and thoughts about our ever-changing future.

Lachlan MacLeod
Sound Engineer, Producer

Lachlan’s art form lies in producing songs and designing soundscapes that allow an audience to truly immerse themselves in the experience while evoking a feeling that is different for each individual.

His passion was first drawn from the desire to record and produce his own band, As Chaos Falls. He went to study a diploma with one goal in mind: creating an album. He quickly fell in love with the process and science behind sound which lead him to finish a degree and start his career as a producer and engineer. He now works with local artists to produce music while also using sound as a medium for creating art.
